Caring in the Community

Over the years, Thurles Lions Club has a had a number of long running projects that offer support in ways that might be small but are hugely appreciated in the community.

One of the Club’s longest running projects is the weekly mass run from the Stannix Home to mass each weekend.  Each weekend, members of Thurles Lions Club transport elderly ladies from the Stannix Home to mass at Thurles Cathedral and back again.

And over the last number of years, members of Thurles Lions Club have hosted tour trips from the Thurles area to Kilcommon Prayer Garden at the site of St Colom’s Well. In addition to the formal rose garden, the entire site has been landscaped to create a meditative area that has become a popular pilgrimage site. It’s always a lovely day that is enjoyed by all and topped off with food and refreshments in Kinnanes of Upperchurch
